The backstory

Our taco seasoning is where it all began! After long frustration of chewy taco meat, over salty seasoning packets, and vague recipes, it was time to figure it out. Thus began the journey. Having tacos several nights a week, driving the family crazy, we finally created the best seasoning, simple, full of flavor, and only has a pinch of salt!

Taco Throwdown certainly set a bar, leading to the creation of Skillet Riot, because food is a passion, not just a necessity.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of ground beef
  • 1/4 cup water
  • 2 tbsp Skillet Riot Taco Throwdown seasoning
  • Dried Minced Onion (optional)

Directions

  1. In a medium skillet, or large saucepan, ad ground beef, water, and dried minced onion. Chop and stir often over medium heat. The water will help crumble the meat and make it softer.
  2. Once meat is browned, strain off most of the frease, leaving just a bit in the meat.
  3. Return to low heat, mix in the taco seasoning. Stir well to full combine the flavor riot. If it’s too dry add a little water or tomato sauce.
  4. Once the meat start to sizzle again, remove from heat and serve.

Notes & Tips

  • Leave about 1/4 of the grease/fat in the meat for best flavor.
  • If making nachos, lower the taco seasoning to a tablespoon, or a little bit more to avoid over powering flavors.
  • Left over taco meat can be stored in the fridge for a couple of days (4 max), or frozen for up to 6 months.
